find job in construction locally?

my cousin is a high school grad and wants to work in construction, but for a small contractor. he isn't having much luck finding these type of employers on monster, careerbuilder, and local classifieds because the listings are mainly for professional or clerical positions. please suggest a place or places he can go to to hook up with or find job with contractor.

1. Need more info? What kind of Construction does he want to do? Concrete, Stucco, Drywall, Site Work, etc? I can suggest a couple but I need to know more of what he wants to do first.
2. Is there any specific trade he is looking to get into? If so, try opening up the yellowpages to that section and start calling companies you like the looks of and ask if they are hiring. It works. There is also a lot of day labor places around or certain gas stations/supermarkets where guys hang out in the morning looking for a job, although I doubt that is what you are looking for.
