how would a possesion of drug paraphanelia effect a job search?

i have a bachelors degree the charge occurred in 2003 i have been employed at the biggest retailer in the world for 4 years I am looking to change job sectors from retail(non manager to a hr associate)

1. I guess it depends on the details of your case... Were you young and stupid and got caught with a few joints or did you get caught making meth? The details are what will make or break your case. You NEED to mention your convition because it will come up on a background check. Whatever you do... DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES... The more you sound like you are 'trying to get out of it' the more the employer will think your still irrisponsible... State the facts, unemotionally, and let them judge you based on what you have done SINCE THEN... Excuses, justifications, or rationalizations just make you look bad...
