What kind of jobs can I get with a 4 year History degree?

I have used my school job search engine and gotten some good results, but I would like to hear from other people as well. I will also probably have a minor in computer science...took a lot of classes for fun >_< I went into college with a goal to obtain a Computer Science degree, however, that was not exactly what I wanted. I did want to go into history as my major, but my fear was NOT getting a job. I finally decided to change majors and did some research on jobs and their hiring status. I even went to counseling at the school for the subject, and it seemed like the decision I wanted to make. I suppose I am just having some nervousness about graduating now, haha.

  1. Probably end up working at a IT help desk. There is little demand for the skills one learns with degrees such as History.
  2. Archiving historic material onto the internet? Perhaps you could work for a museum as a curator. It helps if you are a good writer and strong verbal communicator. Because you will be expected to be able to write grant proposals. I'm curious about what your career plans were when you chose History as a major. Or was that just your favorite subject? To most employers, the fact that you have a college education is highly favorable, and the fact that it is in History is incidental. Your IT skills are more in demand in the job market.
  3. McDonalds has a great 60 year history and the computer science degree will help working the cash register... Otherwise join the military they have a lot of history and computers...
