How long will an average job search for a finance mngr position last?

My position as a Fin Mngr was eliminated in a reorganization. I am in CT and have an MBA from an Ivy League university. I got 4 mos of severane but was wondering how many months my search might tke.

1. Ivy League MBA? Work with a headhunter and go to work next week. If you are willing to relocate and have good qualifications, finance jobs are readily available. The only reason it would take longer is up to you.
2. Your timing is the problem. There are severe cutbacks at many financial companies which have been announced recently (Merrill Lynch, Citigroup, Bank of America are just a few). I suspect that until the sub-prime mess clears itself up, there will likely be more heads cut than added. This might be a good time though to look for something different, ie consulting, accounting, tax management. It could be as one door closes, another opens. Dont get depressed.. Just be creative..
