Anyone in the coast guard who can tell me how hard it is to get a job in search and rescue?

- That is one of the hardest schools in the US military. It ranks right up there with SEAL training. Honestly.
- Search and Rescue jobs are pretty specific. If you want to do search and rescue the Coast Guard is a good job (If you join the Coast Guard you will be able to get training) Most of the Coast Guards Search and Rescue is on the water. If you want to learn overland search and rescue, the best place to get experience might be your local Fire or Police Department. I joined the Coast Guard back in 2001 because I was interested in SAR (Search and Rescue) and ended up loving it even though the job I am doing now dosen't deal alot with SAR. Another place to look is the Civil Air Patrol you can get SAR training with them as well. Feel free to email me if you have any questions
