  1. Well, those are jobs maybe you should take a lower paying job until you can find a good one. Also try calling places out of the phone book and ask if they're hiring, ususally works for me.
  2. Depends on if you are in demand back tothe old quote supply and demand for your field.
  3. Just fish for Lobster, that what everyone else in Maine does
  4. Haha, I used to live in Maine and I know what you mean! I have sinced moved to New York City, for that reason... but anyway, to solve your problem... :) For some reason, people in Maine GENERALLY don't post ads online on Careerbuilder, Monster, HotJobs, etc. It's just a regional thing I guess, Mainers just don't do it. Instead of online job searches, try looking in your local paper for jobs. If you don't have a degree, look for Administrative or Executive Assistant jobs, which tend to pay the highest, considering. If you still don't find jobs listed, hit the pavement and drop off your resume in person at all the office buildings in your town. If you live in a city, that's obviously ideal, but even if you live in the smallest town imaginable, you'd be surprised at how many doctors, accountants, chamber of commerce and school district offices are looking for help. To be honest, Maine is a poor job state. There's no denying it. I went through the same thing. Just work with what you have, try to apply to jobs in the biggest town near you (salaries tend to be higher in cities or large towns), be willing to make the commute, and SELL yourself. (And no, I don't mean on the streets...!) Be firm about your earnings, and state how much you think you're worth. Retail jobs are hard to negotiate, but any secretary's salary is negotiable, so negotiate that extra dollar or two out of them. Good luck!
