What are some good careers for someone who hates the corporate environment but likes the income?
I don't want to have to hide my tattoos, wear the tie, answer to executives who are all on the verge of their 3rd stress-related stroke, or deal with the usual monotony of it all. I have a degree from a great college, have worked higher level (executive) jobs in sales and manufacturing management. I have been quite successful, but always hated going to work. Any ideas??? I'm drowning...

- Of course. . .Do something else! Don't do something you hate because you will regret it sooner or later!
- It sounds like you are in a very common dilemma. You have an education, you're motivated to make money and succeed, but your disenchanted with the corporate world. In my opinion, your only alternative is to pursue a business of your own. You can start small working from home while you continue to receive a corporate check, then begin to transition out of the corporate game as your home business grows. Don't discount the power of a small business to earn you a good living. Take a look at various opportunities available on the Internet and get started.
- ummmmmm......chef?
- Most likely you need to gain some business experience, then go out on your own. At the least, follow your passions. Nothing worse than being employed for most of your life doing things you hate. Whatever you do, don't make $$$ your goal...you'll rarely attain it. A great income is derived by following your passions...not chasing your next promotion.
- Many creative jobs and agency jobs out there don't require a strict dress code. Advertising Creative is one of them. Owning your own business is obviously another. Any job in management will likely though require you to wear a suit if for no other reason than to make a good impression on others. Not knowing your industry I can't comment further, but you may have to consider a line of work that might not pay as well as you'd like it to if you don't want the day-to-day rat race.
- can you take freelance jobs and work from home? ps is there anyone who likes working in the corporate environment?
