How can a 13 year old get a decent paying job in Cincinnati?
I am 13 years old and I will be 14 in a few months. When I am 14 I will be able to apply for some select jobs. Although I want to have money now and can't think of any way to make money. The reason that I want money is because if I had money I wouldn't always have to ask my parents for money, instead I could buy it myself. Any Suggestions

- The USA has child labor laws. You cannot get a job until you are 16, and even then you need a work permit from your school. Sorry, but looks like you are limited to babysitting, paper route, or yard work until then.
- I think the goverment limits hiring of worker's at the age of 13. At the age of 14 your hours would be limited becuase you should be attending school. Cincinnati you say! Get a shovel, shovel snow and in the summer, get a mower and mow and rake lawns. Work for others, doing handy work, establish good working habits, always give it your best attitude, and work like it's your own item, You'll be rewarded. Good for you too, some 18 to 25 year olds refuse to work. You'll be something someday Kido!
- There are not many legal jobs for young people, but if you are creative and ambitious, you can find ways to make money. Maybe there are elderly people in your area that are in need of help with yardwork or having errands run for them. I had 3 boys and when they were your age, they asked the church for names of parishoners that needed help from strong, energetic and friendly youngsters. They worked many years doing odd jobs for the families that lived around us and it amounted to a great deal of cash. Not just mowing lawns (they used the customers lawnmowers because we didn't own one), but raking leaves, trimming bushes, pulling weeds, fertilizing, etc. They also had newspaper routes and ran them before school in the mornings. Routes are good money now, as you usually don't even have to collect the money yourself anymore. Check with your local newspaper and they will be happy to find a route for you close to your home, if possible! Good luck and stay motivated!!
- in most states, there is the law about working kids under a certain age level, so you will have to get a work permit from your school, and they might be able to help you
- Rake leaves, wash cars, shovel snow and other odd jobs around YOUR neighborhood. Legally that is about all you can do. Only ask people you know as going up to a strangers house is not safe for a 13 year old. Get some guidnace and other suggestions from your parents.
