Careerbuilder Job Listings Knowledge Base
What are some good OTHER places to check out for job listings? I've done Craigslist until I'm blue in the face, and there are some interesting job listings on CareerBuilder, but the fact is, everyone and their mother is on CareerBuilder. The competition is so fierce that unless you've already got a lot of experience you'll get lost in the shuffle on sites like CareerBuilder and Monster. I'd like a nice entry level job. Why is that so hard to come by? Are there any other sites that I should check? I've gone directly to some companies to apply for jobs, but are there any websites that cater to smaller unknown businesses looking for good entry-level employees?
Did you ever find a job (get hired) from Craig's List jobs listings? I have never ever been contacted not even for an interview from any of these listings especially with the anonymous Craig's List email addresses. I have emailed my resume to over 100 listings, and nothing comes out of these listings. I am really getting frustrated. I think I will quit Craig's List now and just focus on Monster and CareerBuilder and others. Do you find Craig's List resourceful for find jobs? Also, if you know other legit sites, please list them here.
Who to contact to write articles for Careerbuilder & Yahoo Hotjobs? I've looked around on these web sites and with my interest in journalism, I'm curious about writing career articles for them. I saw links like "contact us" but seems to lead to more of a customer service form. And I've also seen some "work for us" links on each, but all the job listings to actually work for Careerbuilder or Yahoo Hotjobs are technical or accounting.
How can I find a job on without going through a Staffing Agency? I am looking for a job. It seems that most listings on CareerBuilder.com, Monster.com, and Jobbank.com are just listings made by Staffing Agencies. I understand why a company would use a Staffing Agency but its annoying and disappointing when I get really interested in a position just to find out that I have to go through a middle man to learn anything else about that position. I've had bad experience with Staffing Agencies because their people tend to ask me to revise my resume to make me look like I have experience that I don't really have. I know they get paid per person they recommend or get hired.
What are some sites for job listings? *Please read details? I want to find websites showing legitimate job postings but are not for careers. I'm looking for administrative/clerical work which rarely comes up on career-seeking sites (such as monster.com or careerbuilder.com) and when it does, it's more for nursing which requires a degree or schooling of some sort. I go on craigslist every day but most of the listings are either scams or no responses (even after I send a resume and a follow up). So what is a good site that has job listings more for casual jobs as opposed to an actual career?
I have exhausted my job search in Chicago, how can I start to find work in other cities? this is just getting out of control. I need to find a job that fits me and I am not finding it in Chicago. All I am finding are scam jobs on the career websites and no listings in the newspaper. When I try to look on the newspaper websites, they direct me right back to the stupid careerbuilder, monster SCAM jobs. How can I start to find employment in other cities. Whats the normal relocation process for moving to another city? Did the company help you? Let me clarify. I have EXHAUSTED all of my resources in the Chicago area. I have went to many Companies, but you have to make sure they are hiring in which they direct my BACK to the internet!
Where do I find a job? I've searched craiglist, monster and careerbuilder. Where else can I find job listings?
EB Work search requirements - do online applications count? I just applied for the Extended Benefits program and it has stricter work search requirements. I do most of my job search online, applying to positions through sites like the I Match Skills site, CareerBuilder.com, Job Dango, Monster, etc. Some of these job listings do not give the name of a person to contact, just a general 'Human Resources' title and email address. I live in Oregon, by the way.
Which Career Job board site do you use most - is it helping you get job opportunities? Which job board site have you been using lately? Yahoo Hotjobs? Craigslist? SimplyHired.com? Careerbuilder? Monster? Are they giving you good listings? Which one do you use most? The ones I have been using, out of those, -- are SimplyHired.com and Careerbuilder. P.S..... OK, yes, i know that networking with people is important, too. but here I am just asking about online sites.
Have you encountered any SCAM job search sites? DO NOT SUBMIT any information to these sites: www.getplacednow.com www.careernetwork.com www.career-network.com www.careernetwork.us.com These are SCAM sites for some sort of "education" service. To sell you worthless online education. I submitted my resume to one of them because it was listed on www.careerbuilder.com. I've received a lot of annoying phone calls and have received dozens of junk e-mail from them. They are not affiliated with the companies with the job openings. Their "job listings" are NOT REAL. They should be put out of business! Beware!
where to find farm work? I am trying to find work on a small farm for the summer. I don't have any connections where I live. I've tried looking on online sites like CareerBuilder, Monster, InDeed, etc, but haven't really found any labor jobs / apprenticeships. I was wondering if maybe there was a special job database through an agriculture website that is frequently used by people in this industry? Or any publications with job listings? I live in Indiana.
find job in construction locally? my cousin is a high school grad and wants to work in construction, but for a small contractor. he isn't having much luck finding these type of employers on monster, careerbuilder, and local classifieds because the listings are mainly for professional or clerical positions. please suggest a place or places he can go to to hook up with or find job with contractor.
What job site would you recommend? Im 23 and in the midst of a job hunt. I have held an office-desk job twice already and have decided to find something more exciting. My degree was in Management. Besides monster.com, craigslist.org, careerbuilder.com and hotjobs.com, is there another site you can recommend (and one without temp agency listings)? I live in NYC. Any help will be greatly appreciative, thanks
Is World Access Marketing a good company to work for? Im looking for a career in Marketing, and went on Careerbuilder and came across this company. It looks like a good company, but my only concern is that they have multiple listings for jobs in there, making me wonder is it a scam?
Job Search Keywords? I just moved this question - accidentally posted in the wrong category. I'm a recent graduate currently looking for a job in an art/illustration,design, or animation-related field anywhere in North America or English-speaking Europe. The problem is that when I use online job-search engines such as monster.com or careerbuilder.com (which are not my only methods of looking for a job, but should also not be ignored), most of the job search results that they produce are completely unrelated to any field I am interested in. One of the more recent, amusing examples is an art/design/animation related keyword search coughing up a job listing for a janitorial position. How can I retool my job-search keywords and specifications in order to filter out irrelevant job postings and find the listings for the sorts of jobs I am actually looking for? I could try to be more specific, but the problem with getting TOO specific is that I narrow my search so much that I get no job search results at all.
How to find a part-time sales position in insurance? I am seeking a part-time job selling life and health insurance, and am especially interested in focusing on selling to seniors (because of the demographics where I live). I am licensed life and health in my state. I am having trouble finding anything by checking the larger general employment sites like CareerBuilder and Monster - all of the listings seem to be for full-time agents. Can anyone recommend a company like the one I am looking for, or help me figure out how to locate such a company?
chronic unemployment makes me very depressed. what to do? I have been unemployed since January 2008. I graduated in May 2008 with bachelor of science in mathematics. Never found any job since. I just don't hear back whenever I apply. No company ever responds. Went to psychiatrist and he put me on lexapro for depression and klonopin for anxiety. Despite these meds, I am still very depressed. I requested psychiatrist to increase dosage but he did not saying higher dose will result in significant weight gain. I continue applying daily. I spend hours on monster, careerbuilder as well as federal job listings. Its the same story as usual -- i never hear back. my county is most populated in the state. has population over 1 million and no jobs anywhere. badly over-crowded with people looking for work. you will not also find any hourly or minimum wage jobs don't have money to move. moving has big costs. i also filed chapter 7 bankruptcy last year, because unemployment left me with no choice el telecote: did you read the additional details? el telecote: its not a question of doing job you don't like. the issue here is "job scarcity". I think you have a comprehension problem because you can't read "you will not also find any hourly or minimum wage jobs" in the additional details. if it was that easy i wouldn't be asking
Physical therapy, professional sports? for a project in my college course i need to find job listings. I plan on being a physical therapist, but this class is focused on sports so, I am trying to search for a job in physical therapy (sports therapy) that works with professional teams. NBA, WNBA, Olympics teams, NFL, etc... Can anyone help me by giving me a link or by offering some sort of help to find a website which would show me these types of jobs.... also, monster.com and careerbuilder.com dont really help, so please don't tell me those. THANKS!

Any pharmacy technicians or pharmacists out there? I'm currently taking my pre-reqs for pharmacy school, but I thought it might be a good idea to go ahead and do pharmacy tech. first. I'm only on my 1st year of pre-reqs and some of the classes that I've already taken are included in the pharmacy tech. curriculum. Is it a good idea to put a hold on pharm school and do tech and then while working continue on with pharmacy? Also, is there a good outlook for pharm tech jobs? I've been looking on monster.com and careerbuilder.com and there aren't that many job listings. 3 or 4 tops. Any information from pharmacists or pharmacy techs would be greatly appreciated! thanks! Oh yeah... Is there ususally a waiting list to get in pharmacy tech program?
I have been looking for a job for months. Are there any other sites/agencies I can use (no work at home jobs)? I have been looking since I graduated from college in May. I have a Bachelor of Science in biology, but I'm willing to work in any field. I have put in quite a few applications, but I'm not getting much back. I'm also having trouble finding a lot of things that I'm qualified to do; there are plenty of listings, but not many that pertain to anything I do. I have used monster.com, careerbuilder.com, al.com (local newspaper's site), craigslist, indeed.com and collegegrad.com. I searched gov. jobs, but I don't qualify to do anything listed there for Birmingham. Are there other sites or agencies that I can use? (Please no spam/work from home jobs.) Are there any other things I can do? I know the market is tough right now, but it seems like I should be able to get *something*. NO SPAM PLEASE. :)

Can anyone give me some ideas on a good way to market my 'employment services' website? I work for a company that makes a magazine to help people find jobs. We have thousands of job listings through out the magazine where job seekers can go and look for work. We just recently launched our website and I want to know anyone out here can recommend some good ways to market a site like ours. I know the obvious ways would be Pay Per Click (which we are already doing)...I just want to know if there are any other good ways of bringing traffic to our site. Our competition would be something like CareerBuilder or Monster or HotJobs...we are a smaller version of those sites.

Can someone wise lend me some career advice please? Hey there. I graduated with a B.A. in psychology and a minor in creative writing in May, and I have been using CareerBuilder and other job sites ever since to find somewhere to start. I have also gone to a few lackluster career fairs and have been scouring the listings in newspapers. All of my work experience falls under grocery and fast food, your typical summer or part-time any man's job, so even attaining a simple retail management position is hard, as they often require management experience. I finally just took a job as grocery night crew for 7.90 an hour because I need cash. I am in a bind, however, because I have no savings account at all and know that my psychology degree isn't even what I want from the money invested into my education. I had changed my major from programming to environmental science to mass communications- recording arts track, to English, and finally to psych. Then, during my junior year when money and time prevented me from switching again, I lost interest in the field and the lack of opportunity with such a weak degree (in salary comparison to other Bachelors attainable). Therefore, with no savings and only 7.90 an hour, plus student loans coming frighteningly soon, I can't expect to go back to school for a long time. All I know is my interests rest within the media and recording arts fields, as well as the marine sciences and meteorology. So, what can I do to become someone? Those job websites are not aiding me well at all, and I am beginning to really worry that all of my time and money spent on my education was for nothing but more minimum wage-type work-- a highly depressing thought. Somebody please point me in a better direction if you can. Thanks.
Wage offered on listing different from wage offered at interview? I applied for a job on careerbuilder.com with a staffing agency. The details of the job are that a firm that they're hiring for has given them a huge project to hire 30-some people. My recruiter and her boss are putting up all these listings on the boards to fill those spots. The rate offered on the listing was $13/hour entry level and $14/hour for 1+ year experience. Then I went in for the interview and the lady told me it was really $12. I got the job, and started signing papers (nothing to the effect of a wage agreement though) Now I'm seeing the listings up again and it's the $13 and $14/hour like i knew i saw. I'm definitely going to confront her about this, but how should I go about it? I really need the job, and I'm not ready to lose it. All taken care of. Called her and it turns out the manager WAS wrong. Making an extra 1000 this year. Thanks for the answers.

Diane Reeves of Lakewood, who planned the protest for Aug. 25 at the town square on Clifton Avenue, pointed to rumors that such gangs as MS 13 and the Latin Kings, as well as some out-of-town militant groups, would disrupt the rally. That, coupled with the conflict that occurred at a similar protest last month in Morristown, convinced Reeves that the handful of officers Police Chief Robert Lawson promised to provide would not be enough protection. "I was nervous that if something happened, what were we supposed to do?" Reeves said. She and other rally supporters voiced resentment that the township had not agreed to assign more members of its 125-strong police force. They pointed to Morristown, which supplied a strong police presence at the protest over the same issue in late July. Five people were ar-rested and two were slightly injured at that event. "I was very upset when I heard," said Carmen Morales, vice chairwoman of the advocacy group You Don't Speak For Me, who was supposed to speak at the rally. "I feel Lakewood is like a sanctuary for illegal immigrants . . . and (the police) seem to protect them." Officials relieved Mayor Raymond Coles stressed that the Morristown rally was municipally sponsored, as opposed to the privately organized one in Lakewood. Lawson said he could not justify taking more officers off patrol duty, and the township could not afford the overtime. Beyond that, Coles and Lawson agreed with Reeves' decision to cancel. "I'm relieved," Lawson said. "Lakewood has a large number of undocumented residents . . . and now you're going to have a group in the center of town speaking out against illegal aliens. So it's possible there'd be friction between the two factions that could lead to confrontation." Coles said, "This is a very emotional, heated issue and bringing two very emotional groups together might cause problems." Estimates of the number of illegal immigrants in Lakewood range from 5,000 to 20,000. A 2006 estimate by the U.S. Census bureau put the township's population at almost 70,000. Lawson added that it was common for organizers to pay for off-duty police officers as protection at rallies. The Lakewood rally was expected to draw up to 500 people and was to have five speakers, including two family members of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Reeves, who has never organized a rally before, now plans to find an indoor venue in another town to hold the protest, saying that since the cancellation she has heard from angry supporters offering contributions toward the cost of a demonstration. "Look at the 100,000 illegals getting protection to march down the street everywhere else," she said. "But me, a citizen, has no right because of safety issues." Job hunting advice in Washington DC? I'm relocating to DC and I'm having a whale of a time finding a job. I've applied to around 50 jobs in the past 3 months and have had only one contact. It's really odd too, because some people I know in the area tell me the market is great, but others say it's bad. I also understand that hiring freezes are common there right now. I have a BA degree and basically 2 years of professional experience. Anyway, I just want to see if anyone on here in the DC area could offer some advice. I've mostly been searching through University websites looking for jobs (my most recent experience is in college admissions). I've also used the Washington Post job listings and craigslist, and some company websites. Note: I WILL NOT use Monster or CareerBuilder. I listed my resume on these two websites a year and a half ago during another job search and I still to this day get identity theft/pyramid scheme/multi-level marketing scam emails all the time. Thanks so much for any help!
