Is there a way to search for jobs by salary? Say I want to make between $50,000-$70,000. Is there a way to search for jobs using that criteria?
What's the best job board that is search-able by by posted salary? I'm VP of Sales and Marketing for a Utah-based manufacturer. I'm interested in dedicating my talents elsewhere, but I can't seem to find jobs that really match up with my current income. My current income is $85k with a significant upside for performance, 100% paid insurance, and a pretty heafty expense account with very few limits. As I browse around the popular job boards, I'm frustrated that no one seems to indicate any kind of salary or income potential (except the really annoying "you can be a millionaire in 2 years" kind of crap from all the loser-magnet MLM's, etc.--no offense.) How do I know if a job is going to pay what I am looking for? Let me know what the best job boards are--especially the ones that are searchable by income level.
Finding a job and a salary...? So, I am curious to find our if anyone know a website or a way to search for jobs based on salary, rather than the job title. I am interested in so many things that it would be quite tedious to search for the salary range for each job title. Instead, I would rather look for a job by searching a salary range first. I am not talking about going to www.salary.com or a site liek that, because with that type of site, you still type in a job title and find a salary. I want to type in a salary or range and find a job.
should a politician reside his position and salary when he/she is seeking another office? Where else do you see an employer pay for your job search for another position; you are elected to do one job and then you are off for 2 years seeking another office; still collecting a paycheck and not showing up for the job that you were elected to do?? Shouldn't you have to really show you want the new job by resigning your position in the Senate or House and stop collecting a paycheck for a job that you are not doing????

How can I get back the salary for the days I worked for a company when they refuse to pay? I am from India and I worked for a company in US for almost one year. They are the one who brought me here. They didnt treat me well when they relocated me from India & also one another time within United states. So I started searching for a job & I moved within one year. Since I had less time to move I submitted the resignation & gave two days of notice period. But at the client side I worked well & transferred the project knowledge to another person who was nominated by the client. But my company got angry on me & they didnt pay me for the last 1 week & also for the leaves which I didnt take. I requested them so many times but they refuse to pay. I am asking the salary for the days I worked for them & the leaves which I didnt take. It is my money because they got the money from the client for whom I worked but my company is not giving my salary. Is there any way that I can get the salary by complaining to labor department or can some one tell me how I can get it back from them.
In one month I will begin the process of applying to and interviewing for jobs. Any tips? I'm 30 years old and have worked the same job for over ten years and am looking for a change. I have experience in IT as well as sales and have worked with many customers over the phone and in person. I have a BA in Economics and am working on a MA in International Economics (With a focus on economies and policies of virtual worlds. ie. Second Life and World of Warcraft), which should be completed by 2012. Both degrees from NYU. I have experience consulting on the economies of virtual worlds and have been quoted on the subject in such publications as the Wall Street Journal. I have no specific field which I just HAVE to be in. The job must be in New York City, as that is where I currently live and go to school. I'm looking for a full time day job. I'm interested in both Federal and private sector jobs. Starting salary range: 50 - 65k per year. Benefits would be nice. Work hours: anytime, 40+ hours per week. Any advice on applying to jobs, interviewing or the job search process in general? Resume tips, interviewing tips, where to search for jobs, things to avoid, things that are a must and any other advice is welcome. Again, I haven't been through the job application process in over ten years.

If a pastor is "called by God" to preach, then why do some look at it as a job that requires a salary? A job is something a person goes out in search of and receives wages for work done. If a man has been called by God to preach, shouldn't he be trusting in the Lord to supply his needs as Paul did? The reason I am asking this, is because the pastors of megachurches and televangelists are paid extraordinarily high salaries and live in the lap of luxury, while a lot of the people who are supporting their ministries are doing without. Seems hypocritical to me, and that's why I was curious as to your opinion on this. Thank you in advance for your thoughtful answers.

How do I move out of state and change jobs at the same time? I want to move from Maryland to Arizona, and I have a specific idea about where I want to live in Arizona, but there are three things that stop me from moving right now: 1. My current salary at my current job will not support me if I move to the place I want; I would constantly be over-drawing my checking/savings accounts just to pay the bills, much less buy groceries, and that's not good. Not to mention, my current job is at a Maryland-only based company. 2. I have no idea what jobs in that area would pay enough for me to keep up with bills and pay rent by myself (I prefer not to have roommates) on an apartment in my chosen area; all I know is that I don't want any jobs like any of the ones I've had before--and I've never had an actual career. The way I figure it, I would need to make at least $32,000/yr in order to support myself in the residential area that I want, but I don't even know which jobs to search for in the classifieds that would pay enough and still fit my personality. 3. With my current salary ($29,500/yr) I am unable to save much money quickly enough to make the move in any sort of timely fashion. Would I have to get a new, better paying, job here in Maryland and work there for a while (possibly years) to save money before I could move to Arizona, only to find another job out there? I don't have a degree, but I've been going to our local community college part-time whenever I can afford a few credits (have to keep a full-time job to keep the bills paid, and I suck at finding grants and scholarships which I actually get awarded), and am a little more than half-way to an Associate's degree in English. Also, I don't have the budget to get a round-trip plane ticket so that I can go for a job interview in Arizona. How would I get a job before I move if I can't go to an interview? By the way, I don't know why this got put into the Government & Non-Profit category--I don't work in either field, and don't plan to. I meant for it to go into the Other - Careers & Employment category.
I need some help for my career search? I would like to become a police officer but the pay is not that great and also work for the FBI. I like computers so I was thinking of maybe doing some sort of computer security job. What are some of the jobs, what are the salaries, what is the job outlook, and what is the job security like for these professions. Also I would like to earn 100k by my 5th year or so.
Should I accept this job or not? Without being too specific... I am losing my job due to layoffs next month. I have been at this employer for two years, and this is my third year out of college. I will continue to receive a paycheck through August, so I'm not in a scary place yet, but in my industry, 90% of jobs start in August (100% of them with a one year contract), so if I don't have a job by then, I'll likely have to get an interim job and explain the gap in my employment. That said, I have been offered a job. It is a particularly undesirable job, four hours away from my wife (she'll have one more semester in school, so it's really only four months apart), comparable overall pay to my current position (lower salary but much better benefits), certainly with some potential for success, but very little potential for growth in the direction I had hoped to move in my career. I don't like the community (the small rural town itself is two hours away from anything else), and call tell that the boss is either a) remarkably supportive or b) a micro manager. He seems to be involved in everything- don't know if that's just a consequence of the small staff, though. The killer is this: I never applied for this job. They dug up my application from two years ago when I got my current job... I still don't know how they discovered I was looking. I did see the job posting this year and decided to ignore it due to its unsavory location. The boss called me while I was away from my job search materials and I naturally assumed that if they had my application, I must have deemed it worthy, so I agreed to interview. The boss tells me that he has no problem hiring my wife as well when she graduates (although she is graduating with the same degree and specialization I have, and this job only has one position, which would be mine- no conceivable opportunity to expand that to two). He even says he wouldn't mind placing her in the company for her internship (again, though, she'd have to intern with me, which is strictly prohibited). Thus, I am also concerned about my wife finding a job the following August, since there are so few opportunities so far away from everything... So what should I do? Take the guaranteed but unwanted job and hope everything else works out, or keep looking for the right job and face the risk of unemployment in August? Alright, you caught me- I am a teacher. :-) I stayed in my first job for only a year, after years of 1 and 2 year teachers before me. It was a miserable place, and I hated going to work every morning. I became the worst kind of teacher- punching the clock from 8 to 3 and nothing else. I just worry that this job, with its remote location and the stress that puts on me and my marriage, might reduce me to that again.

Career advice/ what move should I take next to again score a success.? I am graduate Mechanical engineer(year2000) from Pakistan.Worked 7 years in HVAC&R/industrial plant machinery maintenance profession (more people focused) in Pakistan,Saudi arabia but switched over 7 industries staying not more than an average of 1 year in any job. My motivation was always learning and search for ideal job rather higher salary. Than I did masters in Technical management from germany(year 2008) and also got a job as application engineer for rotating equipment manufacturer in germany. But the job lasted only for 8 months and fired affected by economical crunch. Got married and moved to join my partner in Australia who is junior medical doctor by profession, luckily with a job. Since I arrived here in Australia searching for jobs firstly only for HVACR and now oil and gas reliability engineer or maintenance engineer. I could succeed to score job interviews you can say 10 telephonic interviews for 50 applications. I hired one HR professional who fixed my conventional resume into highly moderinsed according to Aussie standards for 350$ but that could not even helpful for my case. I am listening tv news that unemployment rate is lowered in australia now upto 5.8 somewhere, and the economical turmoil (which had not effected Australia as per local governement) is finsihed now in Australia. I am totally exhausted, frustrated, bored and feeling regretful for moving into Australia. Am confused what to do? where should I go, should I do another masters from local uni or trade diploma course from TAFE which I found in most preferable for local job requirements, or from Germany Uni which is cheaper and previously lucky for receiving such a nice job with good paid salary, benifits, sent me to canada for three months (wow)!!, or shall I change my career purely in mining (best in Australia) at this age of 32 years old. Donot know what to do? Please help me someone out there. If you can hear my voice Plsssssssssss!

You think interviews are scary? There's one part of getting a job that can be even more intimidating: Negotiating a salary. But what happens when a prospective employer just won't meet your salary request? Should you tuck your tail between your legs and accept the job anyway? Or should you politely turn down the job, even if you really need it? Fortunately, you have a third alternative: You can ask for other benefits that can adequately replace an instant salary boost. For instance: Consider requesting that you can get a performance review six months after you start. This request will show that you're willing to stand behind your work and prove yourself to the company. Then, in six months, you can request a salary increase. Here are other things you can ask for at the negotiating table OTHER than money. An Extra Day Away Don't think you can ask for more money? Then consider asking for a few more days of paid vacation time instead. Even though asking for a few extra vacation days seems like a small request, those days can make a big difference in your happiness in the long run. And from the hiring manager's perspective, granting extra vacation time is much cheaper than a salary bump. You'll Like Doing This Homework One of the biggest trends to hit U.S. workplaces: Working from home. As technology improves -- from cell phones to home DSL connections -- your home may already resemble your office. So when negotiating a job offer, instead of asking for more money, consider asking if you can work from home once in a while.Think about if you would prefer a structured work-from-home schedule (e.g., every Tuesday) or a looser arrangement (e.g., twice a month). Moving Money If you're planning to move to a new city or state for a job, you should consider negotiating for some extra money for your relocation costs. Companies realize that moving can be expensive and they are often willing to offset some of the expenses. Would a Job by Any Other Title? ... If a company doesn't want to offer you more money, perhaps it would be willing to offer you a snazzier job title. While some companies have strict policies regarding job titles, others can be quite flexible. Changing "administrative assistant" to "executive assistant" costs the company nothing, but it might make you feel better. And it could help make your resume more impressive. One last thing to remember: No matter what extra perks or benefits you score when negotiating a job offer, be sure to get them all in writing. Job hunting tips: Are walkins OK? I'm trying not to put all my eggs in one basket by continuing my job search in an area that doesn't have to do with the internet. I'm 27, have a 4 yr degree in English, and did too much temping after college so now it seems I'm stuck because I initially moved out of state after college but then moved back home.. needless to say I don't have many networking contacts for that reason. Is it ok to just walk in to offices in, say, an industrial park and ask if they have any jobs? I assume I'd be asked to visit their website, but you never know right? Anyone else get a job this way? I've been applying and interviewing for cust service/entry level jobs for the past 3 months to no avail. And can't afford fast-food salary but am ready to do it. Just maddening. What did my parents pay for? They're ready to kick me out but I'm busting my ass 8 hours a day looking. Any help is appreciated. sorry for the choppy sentences, wrote it on a whim.
How to juggle the job search and offers? I am fresh out of college and applying to jobs. I am going on an interview in a few days and have already been pointed out that I would be a strong candidate. The location is far and the commute will be horrendous and there will probably be times when the train will screw me over and leave me stranded. The other jobs I am applying to are a bit closer to the city and they won't be holding interview until the week after next. If by some chance, I get offered a job from this interview a few days from now, should I take it? And if I take it and 2 weeks later get offered a job closer to my house- what should I do? All the places I've applied have similar salaries and benefits.

Looking for a job, but don't want to make less than i do currently. Are salary requirements bad? I am currently employed, but searching for a new job. I don't want to get called for jobs that pay less than my current job, end up going through all the interviews and such wasting my time off just to find out that they want to offer me less money. Would it be inappropriate for me to put salary requirements on my resume? How do i approach this situation. I would ask when someone calls, but i have done that in the past and asked what the compensation was, i was either told it would be negotiated, or i felt that i offended them by asking site unseen. Advice for me?

Why is it impossible to find a GOOD paying job? Honestly, this is pretty ridiculous! I have a degree, I'm smart and I have excellent writing skills. Yet when going on Craigslist to search for a second job, its damn near impossible. Can someone please answer the following questions (and I do appreciate the time you'll take to do this, as this is frustrating): 1) Why do companies advertise they're Hiring, and then when I email a cover letter & resume that show I'm qualified for the job, I hear nothing? I understand many are applying, but come on! Not even a phone call for an interview? You usually don't hear back if the company isn't hiring at all. But I'm applying to places that ARE advertising they're looking for employees! 2) I'm appalled at how low many of the jobs start you off at. Dog walkers, baby-sitters, hell office assistants are only getting paid $9-10 an hour?! Seriously, in THIS economy? How is the employer expecting the person to pay their rent or even live manageable? And this is 2010. Cost of living anyone? For what I would have to put up with in terms of the child (ONE place required CPR certification!!!) that's basically slave wages. $15 an hour should be the minimum. 3) SO MANY marketing and salary jobs require the applicant to make the majority of their salary on commission. So not fair! So in order to make $40-80,000 a year, I'm expected to make the company money by basically being a corporate hustler? Why can't there be jobs that just pay me $50,000 a year without expecting me to "always be selling" or "getting those sales boosted"? I'm not your average marketing type of gal. I'm an artist, I didn't go to school to be in that field. 4) Scam jobs are everywhere! Why so many places advertising to "get rich quick" with them, knowing its so obvious theyre out to get your dollars? Please, only answer if you're going to give me legitimate reasoning and not just half-ass sentence responses. Thanks! Not EVERYONE has a degree!!! And the jobs I'm applying for that are declining me are ones I AM qualified for. I'm a Tour Guide at my current job, so when I apply to be a tour guide at another job, I'm shocked not to hear anything! How are you not going to interview me and I have experience already in what you're looking for?
Is my boyfriend right? My boyfriend told me to put my wage requirements directly on my job search cover letter rather than waste everyone's time by going to a job interview and then discussing salary requirements.
Do you think this letter to a potential employer is appropriate? I have been interviewing for jobs. I was offered a part-time internship position with a very big PR firm this morning. The internship has potential to turn into a fulltime position. However, after I received the offer which I accepted, I had a phone interview for a full-time position with another company that contacted me, and they liked me and asked me to come in. I offered to come in later in the day so I can have a clearer idea of what to do with the internship before the weekend came bc they want me to start on Monday. I went in for the interview, and was basically offered the job. He gave me a little assignment to do at home to test my creativity, but basically told me that he wanted me to think about it, and make sure I want the job, and then to let him know by Monday morning bc he said he has to interview someone else Monday, but if he knows I want the job then he would just wrap up the interview quickly. He also said if I want the job then I have to meet with someone else, but he wont introduce me to her unless I definitely want the job. We haven't discussed salary or benefits yet so I assume we would discuss it then. The thing is, I did not tell him I had an internship offer which may have been a stupid move, and I do not want to seem irresponsible and have him think I would just screw over a company that way. I am a bit stuck, bc I am supposed to start Monday at the internship. I planned on sending the employer this letter: Thank you very much for meeting with me yesterday. I found the interview very enjoyable and informative, and feel that I have a much clearer depiction of what the position entails. I have decided that working with XYZ is a great fit for my career aspirations, and I would gladly accept this position if offered. I just have some further questions about the position which I am sure will be clarified if I come in for the next step in the process. I would just like to inform you that after the interview, there was an e-mail in my inbox offering me a part-time internship temp-to-perm position with a public relations firm that I recently applied to and interviewed for. They were made aware that I planned on continuing my job search. The HR representative requested that I begin on Monday, but if this position is offered, I would let her know that I have decided to pursue this opportunity with XYZ. I am not sure what to do. Do you think this letter makes me sound good and professional, or do you have any suggestions? I plan on sending it first thing tomorrow morning, so hopefully I can have a clearer idea of where I stand by the end of the day.
Will i lose all my homes and jobs ect to foreclosure of just one home? I moved to a new town from chicago 7 months back. we bought a new home here. We kept our condo in Chicago for sale since april. we changed two realotors, went 20K below the average price, did everything we can. but it just doesnt sells. Now all my savings are exhausted and i cant pay two mortgages (new home and old home). I was thinking of foreclosing the old home as i cant pay the mortgage anymore and iam not even living there. In my salary, i can pay my new home mortage, all my credit card bills, etc. My question is that if i foreclose the chicago condo. Will i lose my new home, job or my other credit cards , etc also? . On doing google search i found out tat one can foreclose by simply not paying the mortage and the rest is taken care by the company. but i really dont wanna do that. Do you think its possible tat i just call my lender and say them abt my inability to pay the loan. Is this a good option? or are lenders very mean and unhelpfull in this.

Is Portland the right city for me? (Single/M/24 approaching graduation)? Some background: I am nearing the completion of my Computer Science degree, and as I start thinking about the job search I want to first choose a place to live. To me, my living environment is more important than career. I intend to stay single for the forseeable future, and as such I don't really care about the quality of the schools. 1. I have no intention of owning a car, so both my home and workplace must be easily accessible by safe, reliable public transit (this is something my current home lacks) 2. While I'm reasonably tolerant of crime (I live downtown in a Rust Belt city after all) I would prefer to avoid places I can't walk alone at night. 3. While I'm not worried about having the absolute highest dollar figure for a starting salary, there need to be jobs in my field. 4. I want to live in a proper neighborhood with all the normal amenities within walking distance (groceries, cafes, etc.) So does Portland make the cut, and might Seattle be a better choice?
Phone Interview - Thank You Email - How to Follow Up ? Hi, I am a Latin America lawyer and two weeks ago I had a phone job interview with the HR Director for a position as a legal assistant for the company’s clients in Latin America. We talked about my professional experience, salary, benefits and relocation expectations. Well, my professional experience was praised by the interviewer, my salary expectation was market rate, the benefits were fixed the same for every employer, but because I am at the moment based in South America I was asked about my relocation expectations and I proposed the documentation necessary to take the work permit visa and some help to search an apartment. Next day I sent a thank you email but still had no answer. The position is still avaiable at the company’s site. The question is how should I follow up this job because no deadline was fixed at the interview.
[Job Hunting] I spend a lot of time for Organizing/ Market Research etc, Do people do this too? So I am job searching for trading company. I am business major. Many of my friends go to Job fair and turn their resumes to hundreds of different companies, some trading company, some not. They also send their resumes to companies by emails. I do that too, but less than 20 companies while my friends sent already 100. While my friends sending resumes, I spend a lot of time for organizing my thought for job/career, research job possibilities, salary research in several states etc. I do a lot of research. WHICH takes a lot of time... Friends say that I shoud sending more resumes to companies instead of researching. They are NOT wrong, but I want to be able to make my career foundation nicely before getting an job offer. I want to be able to see where exactly I stand. I want to make sure what exactly I need. Instead of getting anything I am offered. So I won't be regret. Did you spend lots of time for searching? Or did you just send your resumes to tons of companies?

I have a degree, am I underpaid? ? I have been out of college for 4 years now....I cannot find decent well paid employment! I have tried finding jobs on my own and I have gone through staffing agencies. I seem to get very low offers. My current position is at a property management company in Charlotte. I got this job through a staffing agency. I was mislead to begin with by the recruiter, she made the job sound MUCH better than it really was. I am assuming she just wanted to make her commission and told me what ever she could to get me to take the job. It is an admin position, I can rarely ever get anything else. I spend my days answering complaint phone calls and stuffing envelopes. My employer is VERY cheap and keeps giving me other duties. I do a little accounting, I work with closings, a little of everything in the office. My degree is a B.A. from a liberal arts school. I majored in PR and I have a minor in Theatre. I currently make $13.00 an hour (yes $13.00 an hour, you read it correctly). That is barely enough to pay basic living expenses! I went on salary.com and I searched my job, the results show that I am in the lowest 10% when it comes to pay. The benefits are bad and so is the vacation and sick time. It really makes me angry when I see or hear of a high school grad (or less) getting a great paying job with no degree and no experience! Where can I find a better job or wager to get paid more?
Pls. Read I Need Help! Gettin' Kicked Out Of House! Help!? I am an eighteen year old male who is still attending high school to get his education in the state of Virginia. I have a choice to graduate on either Jan. 28 or June 10th. I need to get that diploma so I can maintain a job after high school. My mother's fiance left about two and a half weeks ago with no notice to live with his parents in Illinois. With that being said, there has been a lot of fighting in the house hold for quite some time now and he refuses to come back home due to it. He would much rather leave his problems at rest and avoid them while he's out getting most-likely laid in another state. Before he left to make the trip out to Illinois, he had his son take most of his possessions (matchbox/hot-wheel cars, antique furniture, and autographed cards) to his son's house to keep or sell on eBay thus profiting half of it. My mother is completely devastated right now as we speak. She's blaming me for the cause of the relationship ending despite they had a ton of problems. I know that I haven't been helping it nonetheless but I do know that I don't think that I had that much of an impact. I love my mother very much and I am extremely hurt by her actions. Her fiance and I have never gotten along and probably never will regardless of what the outcome of this will be. I honestly think that he is trash and that my mother deserves a lot better. That's my view on the relationship but I honestly have no say in it because I am not her. She has been taking care of him (paying the mortgage, other various bills, and food) for close to six months now while he's been sitting on his butt at home on the couch watching the news and recordings on our DVR box, acting as though he has retired with nothing to live off of. He won't get up and find a job and when she confronts him on it, he puts it off and makes up excuses while mental abusing her all at once. Our family told my mother that she should make a list of things to do for him to help his mind mentally. He said he was a grown man and refused to follow any rules or guidelines. He will look for a job but his job searching is quite slow. He will go to the library and put out his resume on career builder and other sites like Monster; however, when he gets offered a 50k salary job for management, he winds up turning it down! He says he can't do it and then goes back on his word saying that he didn't take it because he doesn't know if there is any stability in the relationship. He did file for unemployment; however, he refuses to help with the bills. It's on and off when he wants to help and what not. The mortgage as well as other various bills are still in his name. He plans on filing for bankruptcy with a lawyer in Illinois; therefore, he could care less if the house gets an eviction notice or if the electricity gets turned off. My mother has been telling him to come back home and get his things before the house gets foreclosed. He tells her that he'll get his things whenever he wants and that he isn't coming home stubbornly. My mother has poor credit and will never ever be able to qualify for the house's mortgage if we were to put it in her name. Her fiance has offered it several of times; however, he knows that she can't do it. Her fiance is two faced. He'll want to pay off the ring while he down in Illinois then he'll want to file for bankruptcy the next second. I forgot to mention that he suffers from depression and probably has multiple personalities disorder despite that he hasn't been diagnosed with it yet. I coach my mother and tell her that she should move on and start dating but she's just as stubborn as I am. Ultimately it comes down to her decision and I am happy for her what ever she decides to choose. I will inform you that there has been no Internet in the house and that her fiance had a computer that he brought with him. He also brought his cat as well as a ton of clothes. There is a lot of junk in the house but not nearly as valuable as the stuff he took with him or the things he gave to his son. Do you think that he is going to come back and that it's completely over with? The reason that she decided to get the Net out of their lives was because her fiance had a bad reputation in the past by cheating on his ex wife who he was with for twenty-seven years. She felt as though he would get back to his old habits and do it all over again because that's what he is used to. Now that he is Illinois, my mother has no way of knowing if he is cheating on her or not. And out of the blue, she found out yesterday that he prescribed another prescription of Viagra. She asked him about it and said that he wasn't cheating on her. Please keep in mind that he has a bad reputation for lying. She is quite controlling if you ask me. She won't even let him have a cell phone because his past was that bad; however, I do not blame her one bit. She's been lied to and played on so many times. Do you think that she is being played on right now? Do
How can I request to retake an offer rejected by me two months ago? If I send an email to request the offer, what should I write? I tried to negotiate the salary at that time, but they don't agree, so that I decided to reject the offer. (I have a fresh master grduate, but only offered $35000) Now I think the job market is terribly bad, and decide to take the offer, instead of keep searching the job. It may be better to gain some job experience first. Anyone can suggest me how to write such an letter? Thanks. At least I give it a try, no loss for a try. The jobs are available, it is federal government, they hire while and while. Such a big organization, one more person is no big deal.
Is there any SIDOR Steel company sub office called Avenue Crescent in Scotland? 4 days before I got one job offer from SIDOR steel company in Scotland. will you pleasr proof read? thanks? I have never really had a firm idea on what I would like to be when I grow up but recently I have gotten x-rays and found it interesting, so for my paper I am researching an x-ray technician. A radiologic technologist is another name for this occupation. I don’t know much about this occupation, just the basics. The first very obvious thing I know is that they examine bones by taking pictures using an x-ray machine. Radiologic technologists have to have a good understanding about bones, how they work and how they are positioned in the body. Another important aspect of a job is the hours; I know that this job doesn’t have the most ideal hours because they work emergency room hours. These shifts can be twelve hours long and during the night or early morning, which could be irritating. Finally, I know that you have to be a people person and you have to have patience if things don’t work out as expected, like the machines breaking. During the process of this I-search paper I would like to discover some things about this occupation. This includes salary, I think that the average salary for this occupation is $60,000, but I am not really sure. Next I would like to learn some terms that are part of a radiologic technologist, I am particularly interested in finding out what the x-ray machine is called. It must have a more formal name. Another important thing one must know is the training and education needed to do this. I am interested in a career with a minimal amount of schooling but one that still pays a decent amount; I am hoping that an x-ray technologist has this balance. While this job may sound fun and seem like it’s for me, I would like to know if I have good traits for this occupation. If this job isn’t for me, it would be interesting to know jobs that are similar to this one. When it comes to salary in this field, as you gain more experience you will earn more money. Also another factor of the pay of this profession is where you live. For example, in New York, which is where I intend to stay, an x-ray technologist in Elmira will make $45,240 compared to someone in Nassau who will make $62,510 (Radiologic technologist, Choices). The average salaries of starting X-ray technologists in the United States make $30,000. If I decided I enjoyed this job and stuck with it for about four years I would make $38,453. After twenty years in this career, I would be making around $51,200 (Median Salary by Years Experience). Each website and book says something different so I picked the one that seemed reasonable. Another thing that can impact your salary is what kind of a place you are working at. Working at a hospital I could earn more them if I worked in a privet practice or a firm (Median Salary by Years Experience). The next thing I wanted to know was terms and every day words that x-ray technologist uses because conveying ideas and important information is big part of this job. Also being able to explain what they mean to people who are getting the x-rays. The most interesting word I found was Bucky; this is what the tray where the x-ray film is loaded. Sadly the x-ray machine does not have an interesting name, it merely an X-ray machine. During the course of my research, I have found out about the training needed for this occupation. First, the courses you take in high school can help. Some good courses to take are biology, anatomy, physics, chemistry, math, and writing and speech. A handful of these courses are required but if you take the extra science classes it will help you out when you are applying to colleges where you plan to take courses involving a lot of science. I think the writing and speech classes suggested for your high school courses are so you can easily convey your ideas to others by speaking clearly.Next I found that X-ray tech schools teach everything I would need to know about radiography. Another thing I learned that in most states you need to get certified, or licensed by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. To get this you have to at the end of your training take a test, when you pass this test you get your license. With this license you can now accept a job as an x-ray technologist and begin your career. An additional way to get training for this job is in hospitals, colleges, universities, vocational-technical institutes and the U.S. Armed Forces.
Recession and Job Strategies? Unfortunately I am in a field that is being hit hard by the "recession" or soon to be one. My employer announced recently that they cut all of our pay 10%, stopped contributing to our retirement and stopped overtime pay. (I am salary so overtime is really a bonus to us). I have been with the firm for 2.5 yrs. and am still the one who has been here the shortest. My husband is now on my case to update my resume (which I did) and begin applying for other jobs (which I havent yet). Everyone in my field is pretty much hurting in this area of the country. I am nervous about looking for another job, what if they hire me and get hit hard 6 months from now and therefore I am let go? What if where I am at now has to let a few of us go months from now and therefore I am forced with more job search competition? What if I ride it out here and things pick up and we get back to normal without any employees lost? I am not sure what to do. I love my job and am not ready to start over. Any suggestions?

Also another factor of the pay of this profession is where you live. For example, in New York, which is where I intend to stay, an x-ray technologist in Elmira will make $45,240 compared to someone in Nassau who will make $62,510 (Radiologic technologist, Choices). The average salaries of starting X-ray technologists in the United States make $30,000. If I decided I enjoyed this job and stuck with it for about four years I would make $38,453. After twenty years in this career, I would be making around $51,200 (Median Salary by Years Experience). Each website and book says something different so I picked the one that seemed most reasonable. Another thing that can impact your salary is what kind of a place you are working at. Working at a hospital I could earn more them if I worked in a privet practice or a firm (Median Salary by Years Experience). The next thing I wanted to know was terms and every day words that x-ray technologist uses because conveying ideas and important information definitely is big part of this job. Also being able to explain what they mean to people who are getting the x-rays. The most interesting word I found was Bucky; this is what the tray where the x-ray film is loaded. Sadly the x-ray machine does not have an interesting name, it merely an X-ray machine (Radiologic Technologists and Technicians) During the course of my research, I have found out about the training needed for this occupation. First, I’ve realized that the courses you take in high school can help you when applying to colleges where you plan to take a lot of one type of course. One example of this is the career I’m interested in, when training to be an x-ray technologist a lot of science classes are needed, taking as many science and biology in high school can help you during college. For being a x-ray technologist some good courses to take in high school are biology, anatomy, physics, chemistry, math, and writing and speech. A handful of these courses are required but again extra science classes will help you when applying to colleges where you plan to take courses involving a lot of science. The book Exploring Health Careers, suggests those high school courses. All the listed courses are for the most part are related, except math, writing and speech. I couldn’t find out exactly why I needed math in this career but after some thought, I think it probably has to do with setting up x-ray machines and taking measurements of breaks in patients bones. As for writing and speech classes that are suggested, conveying your ideas so that others can understand you is a daily part of this job. Speaking to people about something they do not have a great understanding of is tough enough already, then when patients are in pain and distressed it could probably get a bit more challenging. Writing in this career along with ant medical career is most likely to update files so that other professionals can read and understand them. this is long proof read if you dare, thanks? Finally, I know that you have to be a people person and you have to have patience if things don’t work out as expected, like the machines breaking, which I bet can happen quite often. While this job may sound fun, interesting and seem like it’s for me, I would like to know if I have good traits for this occupation. how is the economy today? Since the economy meltdown but I say took a downfall nothing has improved in the economy in the job sector. Wallstreet may be fine but no new jobs have been created. There are claims but they are false claims that new jobs have been created. Jobs barely appear in search engines. People with a degree and without a degree are unemployed. Its come to the point where people with degrees are working in a low level position jobs where uneducated people work. Each month more and more people are laid off whether they have a degree or not. Obama, congress, businesses and wallstreet are making false claims however have created new jobs. The stimulus money was given to business to create jobs but instead the leftover is used as salary increases and promotions to managers, CEOs, company presidents, and employees whom were the ones that brought down the economyn along with the banks and the real estate market. Don't give the excuse this wasn't a unforseeable problems since these people were experts in such problems. Since there are jobs on search engines that never get filled eventhough there are alot of unemployed people who overqualify and apply for it but never get filled. I'm starting to believe its somekind of trick by businesses into making the govt. believe they are creating jobs by letting that position exist but never fill it In the end Congress favors businesses who put huge amounts of money in their pockets so they aren't concenred and don't want to hear about the unemployed.A reason instead of forcing companies to compy they are making news that benefit businesses. One important thing is Don't believe statitics since most are onesided and shows only parts the party who creates the statitics wants to be show while omitting the rest. Its done on a small group of people usually 20 to 100. Some are done on isolated groups. Not every part of a problem is shown only what a party favors. There are people who disagree but these are the ones that turn into more of a problem over job competition when they get laid off. Seems that the positions that were lost during the economy meltdown won't ever reappear. Believe it or not there are people who don't want such info posted this since most benefit from such corrupt businesses. Don't try to divert the blame on something else like they do. 7/7/2010.

monthly apartment cost & monthly salary? I'm a junior in college majoring in education and I'm starting to think about what I might want to do after college. However, because I'm still young and lack experience in managing personal finances. I'm good with managing my money and saving, but when it comes to investing in a home or an apartment or a car, etc, I'm not very familiar with the financial aspects involved. So obviously I'm looking to get some advice from someone with a little financial/investing experience. The first goal I have after I graduate college is to find a job. And I just did some research and the average annual salary for a HS teacher in my city is roughly $39,000 (tough income, I know, but it's for the love of the job). So I figure, in order to find the monthly salary I just divide that by 12 and I get $3,250 a month (on average). [$756 a week | $108 a day] Next I started searching for apartments, and though there were cheaper apartments, I found this REALLY cool 1 bedroom apartment for $1,400/month. Well because I'm young and inexperienced I'm thinking: "well great, I can afford that if I'm bringing in $3,250 a month!" but for some reason I know that might not be the case. I know I'm neglecting taxes and utilities and insurance and basic everyday living expenses, and probably some other hidden fees or fees I'm unaware of, but I just don't know how much those things cost (thankfully, I've never had to support myself financially). But now I'm interested and I feel stupid for not knowing. I guess what I really want to know is how much of your monthly salary should go towards monthly apartment costs? Thanks for the advice everyone!
Need information about being a photographer? My girlfriend has decided to go into photography instead of her past choice of a career. So I've decided to try to find some information out for her ..and this seems like the perfect place to start. *Most topics will be centered around freelance photography rather than a salary job* I'm going to try and hit as many points as I can think of: 1-What education is needed? After a quick google search it seems most agree that no formal ( as in a college education ) is required. I know you would need knowledge of the equipment(camera, printer, programs, etc), marketing , and most of all just real world experience. But is a degree really required? I'm sure it would look better...but is it needed? And if it is, how far? Would a associates in photography be good enough? 2-What "career path" is better? This is centered around freelancing because that's what she wants to do. But would a regular job position with a company be better? I know it would be more stable because you won't always have freelance work. But is there any real difference between the two? 3-What does it take to get started? I know it would cost thousands at first for the camera, lenses, misc camera equipment, printer, printer paper, cd's, computer, software,advertising/website, etc. How much does advertising (besides website) usually cost? And what other costs are there? How do you get your foot into the door? Starting young and having a portfolio and experience seems to be the best way I would think. But how do you explain to your first costumer that they are the first without freaking them out? 4-What can you expect? Weddings, senior pictures, family pictures, and random portraits are about the only things I can think of. Are there any other situations to expect such as request from companies and being contracted out or anything related to that? 5-How much money do freelancers make? Doing another quick search on google came out with a mix between people saying they can make from 0-millions and others sticking around $40,000 a year. I see people listing on websites stuff like $1,000 for wedding pictures but how much of that is actually profit? I know the initial cost of the equipment would take awhile to pay off, and then it would mostly be the cost of the printing and time basically. 6-What is the environment like? Is it hard to find jobs the way the market is? I'm sure many aren't willing to spend thousands just on pictures and with technology advances it seems like photographer is becoming easier and easier so extreme talent doesn't seem to really be needed (I'm sure this will be corrected by someone, and I hope it will be.). Besides the job market is there any difficulties with costumers? Do you have to charge a deposit to keep them from canceling and leaving you with wasting time when you could of gotten another job or anything of that sort? Well, this is all I can think of for now....I hope it's not to long :\ Just trying to cover all the bases before she gets to deep and realizes it's something she really isn't into. Thanks in advance too.
accepting job offer from bro-in-law? right now iam on a job search.i got a very exciting job offer from my bro-in-law.the prob is my inlaws always give credit to whatever good happens in the family to their sons.if i accept this job offer..they will bring blood to my ears by praising their son from earth to heaven saying"if not for him..i could not have been successful..blah blah.."..they have already started it.but the job offer is really good and the salary is also pretty awesome.what should i do?
Receiving unemployment benefits, then comes 3 job offers.? Here's the situation: I interviewed with 3 companies - Company 1 - this was the only job lead I was working on that week and the job that I really want. either I have not heard from or I did not get the position with the other companies I interviewed in the last 3 months. face to face interview was scheduled in 2 weeks. out of state but a great sponsor company to work for, senior level position where I will manage projects, limited travel and best of all, I know the hiring manager. this is my dream job! Company 2 - I interviewed with one of their sponsor clients previously but did not get the job. another opportunity came up so I was contacted to do an interview with another client. this was after an interview was scheduled w/ company 1. great company and local travel. Company 3 - interviewed with them 3 months before. got a call from a sr. director who offered me a job, which is 2 levels below my prev position. the call came after an interview was scheduled w/ company 1 and I was waiting for an official offer from company 2. Company 2 offered me a job before I could even interview with company 1. They wanted a response in a week; however, my face to face w/ company 2 is in a week also. I got worried that they may rescind the offer and I may not get an offer with company 1, so I accepted the company 2's offer before I could even go to company 1's interview. start date is in 2 weeks. Company 1's interview went really good and the manager was already telling me at the end of the interview that I got the job. She just needs to get salary analysis from HR so she can give me an official offer. I made a decision to accept this position and rescind my acceptance of the job with company 2. start date is in 7 weeks as I have to work relocation stuff and other personal matters. Question - Can I still receive unemployment now that I rescinded a job acceptance with company 2 which would have started on an earlier date? The job with company 1 is the best and right job that was offered to me. In the next 7 weeks, I will no longer seek work or apply to jobs as I already have that job with company 1. What answers should I provide on these unemployment questions: Did you refuse work during the week? During the week, were you able and available for work, seeking work, and keeping a record of your work search as directed by the Commission?

What are the best ways to search for and land a salary job? I have been unemployed for the past 3 months. Before that I was employed full time for the last 11 years and earned my bachelor's degree in managment a few months ago. During my unemployment period I have been applying for jobs and have had interviews but have not landed a job as of yet. I look back and see that I have not been aggressive enough in my job search and need to drastically pick up the pace. Is is acceptable to personally go to the companies and ask for an interview? I need to get a job ASAP.
Is there a good job search engine that shows salary? I am looking for a job search engine that can show the salary or $/hour. Is there one? I need to know how much i am getting before i apply.

Where is the best place to search for jobs providing room and board in return for light work duties.? My ideal situation would be to work for room and board in return for being a companion to an elderly person or couple. I am a man and would like to help an elderly person(s) who are in good health and who can take care of their basic needs fairly well. However, they are in need a companion who can drive them around and help with shopping, balancing a check book, lite housework, cooking, yardwork, etc. A rural location in the upper South or Midwest would be ideal. I live in the Chicago area but relocation within a reasonable distance would be no problem. Another possibility would be to do a certain amount of accounting and bookkeeping in return for room and board and a nominal salary. In this situation, the people involved would certainly not have to be elderly. Again, a rural or small town location would be ideal. In this situation an ideal business would be a large farm, lumber business, or similiar type of business.

Looking for a (sneaky) way to find out salary range for a job prospect...? It's something called a Financial Sevices Rep III at a large financial printer. Problem is when I do internet searches to guesstimate salaries the jobs I find are clearly not describing the same position as this one- same title, totally different responsibilities. Is it wrong to ask the prospective employer for the salary range? They want salary requirements along with resume and I don't want to blow it.

For those out of work, would you be willing to "hire" a Job Search Consultant? Would you be willing to hire a Job Search Consultant on a contingency basis to find work for you? Meaning you owe them nothing unless they find work for you, and you accept? For hypothesis sake, let's say it was a flat percentage based on salary, payable over 2 installments. This isn't fishing for business, I'm looking for arguments on both sides. Why or why not? Pros, cons? What percentage, if any, do you think would be fair?

Anyone know a website to search my salary to see if its below average? Hi all A while ago I read an article in a magazine on how the cost of living is just going up but salaries aren’t. They had a website address in there where you can add your job description and annual salary to see what everyone else is making in your area- but i stupidly didn't take it down. I think my salary is too low in relation to the job I do, so I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can check to see what I should be earning. Thanks in advance for any advice. XxX I earn 15k per year. I am supposed to earn comission on top of this but unfortunately this is also yearly due to my products being seasonal. I have a company car and phone too so i was told my salary would be lower than usual due to my "perks" but most sales jobs have these and they all earn atleast 25k a year
What does it mean if a salary is excellent or attractive? When you search for a job, why are companies so reluctant to tell you straight what the salary is? Instead they say negotiable or excellent. What would you think, roughly obviously, the salary would be? For a Games Programmer?
Where can I find a link that contains a list that has the average salaries of all US jobs? I want it to be a recent list, preferably from 2009. I don't want a search page that provides me to 'search for the job of my choice', or anything like that. I found this list once, about two months ago. I can't remember what I searched for, though. If you could help me, I'd really appreciate it.

Proper business etiquette to ask about salary? If you're job searching, is it proper business etiquette to inquire on the salary in the beginning, that way you don't waste yours and their time? I've been told yes and no. What does anyone think who's been in the job force awhile?
What's a good, decent salary job for me (an INFP)? To start off I'm not an adult, I'm a high school student in grade 10 and I'm getting ready to do my grade 11 course selection. I don't know if you know about the MB personality types, but I'm really into them and I'm an INFP. Most of the jobs that suit my personality are low pay or impossible to get. I really, really don't want a job, but I'd feel bad if I didn't have the money to help other people out. I want activism to be a part of my life, but I'm finding it really impossible in my job search. So I need a job that would work for me... - decent salary (at least 50-60k/year) - fulfilling - doesn't require very high grades (I have about an 85% average, which is about an A- here) - isn't competitive - minimal public speaking The only thing that seems possible to me is teacher, which is my backup plan, but I don't want to be stuck in school for eternity. If there is any good job that EXISTS, please please tell me. Sorry about dragging this on and thanks :)
A recent grad from a decent college; $120,000 student loan; a 20g salary job offer - Reject or Not? The question should describe what kind of position I am in. I have been searching for jobs these past two months, and despite having - what I think is - a decent resume and a pretty competitive GPA from a reputable school (majored in economics), the first and only offer I got will give me only $20,000/year with no benefits (it's a year-long contract). I want to support my financially struggling parents (I will be living with them) and not fall behind my loan payments, but the salary offer is painstakingly small to do all this. In addition to all this, I am planning to pursue a law degree or a masters after an year or two. The salary amount won't get me in a financial trouble but it does make me rather hate myself for finding a job offering so small (my friends with a lower GPA or more non-applicable majors found jobs with 50g or 60g per year). On the positive side, the company itself is one of the largest and best conglomerates in the world, and the position matches perfectly with what I am interested in doing in the future. Having the company on the resume may help me a lot in my future endeavors. What should I do? Should I reject the position and seek out for better-paying positions (I can job search securely until mid-September)? Or should I bite my tongue and accept what I have? I am so lost...PLEASE HELP ME! Thank you so much!
I am working on my degree in Healthcare Administration, I was wondering what kind of jobs others found after.. graduation? What was the salary range? Can anyone recommend a site for locating a job search agent or a site which is geared toward professional...? Can anyone recommend a site for locating a job search agent or a site which is geared toward professional non-profit staffing. I am a professional with experience tutoring mathematics and applied mathematics in physical science. I also have an associate's degree in computer information systems. I am looking for good sites which have job leads for a hard worker who isn't interested in a high salary, but is interested in finding employment with an agency which cares about its employees. I am most comfortable in higher education environments, but I can work in any information sector position. I have experience writing stand-alone software as well as Internet applications. I am open to learning new technologies. I have already been searching www.monster.com and www.indeed.com on a regular basis, but both of these sites are geared toward high salary job seekers. I am seeking employment in a job which salaries from 15K-30K. I would rather have job security than salary.

How do I find out what state employees in Ohio and Illinois make? Is there an online bluebook with that info? I'm looking to change jobs and would like to do some salary comparison.
Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of a staffing agency? For example staffing agencies like Robert Half, K force, and etc. I mean with my experience all this people do is take jobs from careerbuilder and monster and post it like their own job posting. Also you have multiple interviews that you don't even need if you didn't use a staffing agency. Also if the agency doesn't have a good working relationship with the client company that can make the candidate stand out/ What is the purpose of using one if all they do is take 40% of your salary when all they did is get you an interview with a company something anybody can do themselve for free on a job search engine.

How do I calculate my annual income? No over time, just 40 hrs per week? I need to know what I make now so that when I go job hunting I search for an appropriate salary. Don't laugh, they don't teach you these things in school and it is too embarrasing to ask those who expect you to already know this. Thanks.
I am worried my credit score will hinder a job search. I am in a post-divorce financial nightmare. Is it true? Finances are bleak, barely making it on one salary, no assets to further liquidate, no child support/ex not working. I have a decent job, but no opportunity for advancement...and my credit score is now in the dumper. I am a mid-level executive, possibly looking for a comparable job with better salary, but am sure my credit score will exclude me from many jobs. Help. Do potential employers really exclude someone based on their credit score/history? There are extenuating circumstances.
How dramatic is the cost of living in relation to salary in Charleston, SC? So thank you to those of you who suggested I live in Charleston, SC..I've been searching for apts and love what I'm seeing. I love that the cost of living is cheaper down there. The problem is my old boss told me that so are the salaries. I was expecting if I make 34k now maybe I would have to settle for a job at like 30/31k, but he is telling me that it's a much bigger difference in salaries. I don't know exactly what I want to do yet but I'm 24 and am working as a real estate research analyst, and I used to be in finances/banking. I don't want to do a hospitality type job- I want a career- but I want to make sure those type positions exist and that they still pay at least mid 30s (my ex boss said a job that pays 34K here is probably like 22K there...Sounds like a HUGE difference to me!) Advice anyone? Is this so true about salaries there? Is it that dramatic? And are there "real" jobs as in CAREERS in Charleston, SC (other than call centers and secretaries)? HELP!! PS. I forgot to mention I live in Baltimore/Towson MD right now. A 2BR 2Bath apt runs about 1050 for the cheap end. From what I've seen in Charleston they're about 750-850 for a decent 2BR 2 Bath. I would be moving with a roommate in mid-end Jan 08.
